Howdy, flippers! This week I got paid to haul off a treadmill and then sold its guts for $210. Scroll down for the story, plus this weekend's best sales.

This weekend the yard sale signs are sprouting like fire ants after a rain, and we've got the picks to prove it. Grab your coffee, your cash, and a bungee cord you'll swear you won't need. Let's go.

🛠️ This Week's Flip Tip: Play the Long Game at Multi-Day Estate Sales

Here's a secret that isn't really a secret: estate sales that run three or four days often drop prices on the later days. Day one is for the early birds who want first pick. The last day is for the bargain birds who want the leftovers cheap. Both kinds of birds can get the worm. Different worm.

  • Go early for the one thing you really want. If you spot a dresser with good bones on day one, buy it. It won't be there Sunday.

  • Go late for the "maybe" pile. Ask the sale company if they do markdowns on the last day, and whether they'll take offers on bigger furniture. Every company does it differently, so ask instead of guessing.

  • Check sold listings before you pay. Same rule as always. If the math doesn't work, it's not a deal, it's a hobby.

And with the holidays coming, folks are clearing out spare rooms before family shows up. More stuff out there, more motivated sellers. This is the season to keep your truck bed empty and your eyes open.

Real flip, real quick: A Peloton treadmill came in on a Go Time haul-away job, and the client actually paid us to take it. It was missing a part we couldn't get, so instead of crying into our sweatbands, we researched what Peloton parts were selling and parted it out on eBay. The motherboard and the stop button assembly brought in $210 total, and we had $0 in it. Lesson: when a big item can't be fixed, check what its parts sell for. Same rule as above: let the sold listings do the math.
